Generous Chinese boss treats 6,400 employees to holiday in France
It has taken the social media world by storm that Chinese billionaire Li Jinyuan gifted more than half of its 12,000 employees with a free four-day trip to France.
57-year-old Li, President of China’s Tiens Group, has treated 6,400 members of his workforce to a four-day trip to Paris and southern France, costing up to 13 million euros ($15 million) in total, Reuters quoted a French foreign ministry spokeswoman as saying on Thursday.
Li booked up 140 hotels in Paris for all of the workers as part of the package, paying for tours of local sightseeing attractions, including the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, according to Reuters.
The huge group then made their way to the glamorous Cote D'Azur, the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France, where Li booked 4,760 rooms in 79 four-and five-star hotels.
The culmination of the trip was along the Promenade des Anglais in the southern resort town Nice, where all the workers, dressed in blue and white, spelled out the words "Tiens' dream is Nice in the Cote d'Azur", making what could possibly be the world’s longest human chain.
Although it’s not rare to see Chinese tourists in France, the 6,400-strong group has set a new touring record in the country. In China, the mass trip, together with the stunning photos taken on the sites, has led to abundant discussions on Sina Weibo, and the reactions are mixed.

Li was listed as a billionaire on the Forbes rich list in 2011 and has arranged the group trip to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the founding of the Tiens Group.
According to the Tiens website, Li established the group in 1995 and has expanded it into an international enterprise with businesses in biotechnology, health management, ecommerce, hotel and tourism, and others.
